Indoor / outdoor kennels
The kennel was built in 1935 on the belief that dogs flourish with outdoor access, sunshine, fresh air and room to exercise. It is one of the few indoor / outdoor kennels left in the area.
Built to be kept clean
Stainless steel kennels and ceramic tiled walls make cleaning and disinfecting easy and routine.
Supervised playtime
Playtime is supervised at all times, and dogs are paired with others of similar size and temperament.

A family kennel since 1928
Nearly a Century of Dog Sense
Jagersbo means “Hunter’s Home” in Danish. The name was granted by the American Kennel Club in 1928, and the kennel has been in the same family ever since.
Erik Bergishagen Sr. arrived from Denmark in 1922 and began importing and breeding English Setters and Pointers. His son Erik showed more than 200 dogs to their championships, judged at Westminster and served as President of the Detroit Kennel Club. Today the family still runs the kennel and still lives on the property.
Labrador Retrievers
Labradors at Jagersbo Since 1946
The first Labrador came to Jagersbo in the spring of 1946. Over the years the family has shown and bred English Setters, Pointers, Brittanys, Irish Water Spaniels, Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, Dachshunds, German Shorthaired and Wirehaired Pointers, English Cocker Spaniels, Golden Retrievers, Whippets and Norwich Terriers.
Today we breed Labrador Retrievers, about one or two litters every couple of years. Looking for another breed? Call us; we can usually point you to a good breeder or breed club.
